Merger of Dresdner Bank and Commerzbank
On August 31, 2008 Allianz SE and Commerzbank AG have agreed on the sale of Dresdner Bank AG to Commerzbank AG.
The merger with Dresdner Bank will create a new German market leaderon a European scale under the roof of Commerzbank.
The new bank created by this major transaction will be Germany’s leading bank for private and corporate customers.
No other bank will be closerto its customers.
We will have the most extensive branch network and a product and advisory offeringthat is unique in terms of its variety and quality.
The new bank will be a reliable long-term partner for its customers and will create secure jobs for the long term in Germany.
Commerzbank and Dresdner Bank are driving forward the consolidation process in the German banking sector –to the benefit of Germany as a financial centre and the entire German economy.
